The Shanghai Museum
The Shanghai Museum is an ancient Chinese art museum located in the Huangpu District of Shanghai, China. This museum was formed as a result of a cultural revolution that continues to evolve throughout the year through government purchases, donations, and archaeological findings. The Shanghai Museum is Chinas first world-class museum originally founded in 1952. The museum has a gigantic collection of over 1, 20,000 artworks ranging from furniture, sculptures, photography’s, ancient coins, foreign art, calligraphy, seals, jades, paintings, and many more. The museum is also home to three transparent bronze mirrors that date back from the Han Dynasty. The museum is home to eleven permanent art galleries and temporary exhibition halls. The museum has been designed by the mastermind Xing Tonghe and the structure resembles the shape of an ancient bronze-vessel with a round top, square base all of which is supposed to signify that the sky is round and the earth is square.
Yu Garden
Yu Garden is a 15th century beautiful Chinese garden from the Ming Dynasty straddled at the heart of Old City of Shanghai, Huangpu, Shanghai Shi. This garden was originally constructed to comfort the minister and it was one of the largest and beautiful gardens during the Shanghai era. Yu Garden is best reached by taking the Shanghai Metro Line-10 from Yuyuan Garden Station. The Garden stretches over an area of 5 acres and has been divided into 6 different areas according to the Suzhou style. The garden features a 3.3m exquisite Jade garden, Sansui Hall, Yangshan Hall, Yule Pavilion, Double Lane Corridor, Wanhua Chamber, Nine Lion Study, Relic Hall, Gingko Tree, Huanlong Bridge, Inner Garden, Stone Boat, Guantao tower and other countless attractions.
The City God Temple
The City God Temple or the Temple of the City Gods is a beautiful folk temple situated in the old part of Shanghai. This temple was constructed around 1403 and draws its inspiration from the Jinshan God temple or the Gold Mountain. It was constructed to commemorate the municipal status of Shanghai in the veneration of three Chinese figures that were considered as City Gods. This temple is a rich historic site and is one of the most visited temples in China.
